Die Cut Layering with Words

DATE:  Friday, August 10th
TIME:  7 to 9 pm
COST:  $20

Hello all!  Here I am again running late - it seems to becoming the norm and for that I apologize.

Our next class is this Friday and we'll be creating four fun cards using the same technique.  I love the large alphabet letters and loved creating these cards for you.

First up will be two cards that are the mirror opposites (why waste materials?). (you'll have to forgive my poor photograph -- these colors aren't quite on the money)

Next is the same technique incorporating more than one image.  Again, the color is a bit off in this image.

And the last project is the same technique, but giving the 3-D layers a little punch with black outlines.

I'm looking forward to seeing you all again.  If you haven't signed up yet, just send me an email at deedee.maligno@gmail.com to reserve your seat.

See you soon!

I've Been Framed!

DATE:  Friday, 7/27
TIME:  7 to 9 pm (or later)
COST:  $20

Hello again!  Time for another evening class and I've got a great one planned for you.  We will be creating three projects one of which can be taken home and completed if time does not allow in class.

I don't know why, but I fell in love with this frame die from Elizabeth Crafts and have had so much fun creating with it.

And here are the fun projects that I created just for you.  (I can order this frame for anyone who may be interested.)

First up is a stand alone frame created using Distress Oxides.  I love how these colors work together! And as a bonus, you will create a very simple card to coordinate with the frame using the waste piece to create additional flowers for the card.  PLEASE NOTE:  if you have already purchased this flower die set, please bring it to class - it will make things go a bit faster.)

Our next frame is actually converted to a card!  This would be a great frame to insert a picture of your summer travels to send to someone special (picture shown is just something I tore out of a magazine).

And if time allows, we will create this adorable pet frame that you can use for yourself or perhaps a friend or family member who has lost a pet.  You will have the choice between a cat and dog for this project.  If we run out of time, you can take the project packet home with you as I will have done all the preliminary work for you.

NOTE:  PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHETHER YOU'D PREFER A CAT OR A DOG IMAGE!!

So if you haven't signed up already, we have a few spots left.  Come join the fun!  Email or call me to reserve your spot.

I look forward to seeing you all.

PS:  Please bring your usual class kit.  A small score board is helpful but not necessary.

A Heads Up on Classes

Hello all.  I hope your summer (I think it has arrived?) is going well.

I just want to update you all on class schedules.  The exciting thing is, I have now split classes into two segments - day and evening.  Classes have grown exponentially and many ladies prefer day classes during the week.  So I have split off into two different class selections thus making it easy for the ladies with jobs outside the home and those who, like me, have time on their hands (did I say that?).

I have been busy planning different classes and trying to get ahead on the schedule -- there's nothing worse than trying to plan a class last minute.  Pressure tends to stunt the creative juices.  That and my crazy busy lifestyle since moving to Middleboro!  My social calendar just won't quit!

So, here's the schedule for now - I will be adding more dates and projects going forward, but needed to get a jump on the most upcoming classes.

Day Classes:

Thursday, July 12
10 a.m. to noon
$15

I stepped it up just a bit on this class with CAS (Clean And Simple) cards.  For someone like me, it can be extremely difficult to dial it down and create a very simple project.  I will have three lovely and different offerings for this class as follows:

As you know, I have comfy seating for 8 around the table, but can fit 2 more at the island, so feel free to contact me if you'd like to join this class.

EVENING CLASSES:
I've managed to create one class at this point and hope to have another ready shortly.

Friday, July 13
7p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
$20

We will be creating another version of a box card.  This one is made to look like a book, but when opened, it holds a lovely surprise inside for the recipient!

Looks just like a card, doesn't it?  Well check out the perspectives below!

And as if that isn't enough, here's an adorable "lunch box" type of box for more gift giving.  Maybe a scarf, or yummy candles or even homemade goodies.  The possibilities are endless.

(Pssst!  I dug up an old technique for that blue flower -- so much fun!)

So, send me an email and get yourself signed up for this class.  In the meantime, I'll be hard at work  planning another class or two.

Box on a Card Class

DATE:  Sunday, June 10, 2018
TIME:  1pm to 3pm
COST:  $20

Well here we are again with another fun and unusual card.  I very aptly named it Box on a Card - original isn't it?  Hah!

Anyway, this Sunday we'll be creating these two fun cards using the same format, but a different size.  What makes this such fun is that you can include a gift in this little box and the recipient can display card and all!  I wouldn't try mailing this unless you put it in a box as well.

My first card is an A2 (standard) card and I used some lovely designer paper and lots of die cuts to embellish it with.

And our second card grew up to be 5x7.  This afforded me to add even more embellishments and play with larger space.

Oh the possibilities!  I'll have written instructions for you so that you can replicate this over and over.

This class is full but I am open to another date if you'd care to join me.  Just send me an email at deedee.maligno@gmail.com and we'll work up a plan for you!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope to see you soon!

PS:  if you've read the newsletter, the you know that you'll need your score board and whatever markers you choose to color your bicycle with.

Something for the Man in your Life

DATE:  SUNDAY, May 20th
TIME:  1pm to 3pm
COST:  $20

It seems we all struggle with masculine cards, so this is dedicated to that end.  Using blending techniques and silhouettes, we will create some really artistic looking cards for the man in your life.

I will be showing you how to create these backgrounds by simply using an applicator and ink.  Top it off with an appropriate silhouette  die and you have a great card for your guy.  These cards would also lend themselves to sympathy cards, so keep that in mind as well.

Here are the two we will be creating first:

And our last creation is a fun sandwich board.  Again, this style lends itself to almost any occasion, but today we devote it to the "boys".

So those of you who have already signed up, here's a list of supplies that would be helpful to bring.

Inks: (regular or oxide inks - the choice is yours)
Squeezed Lemonade
Spiced Marmalade
Fossilized Amber
Broken China
Salty Ocean
Faded Jeans

White gel pen
Sponge daubers

This class is full, but a second class can be planned at another date and time for any on a wait list.

I look forward to seeing you all soon!

All That Glitters

DATE:  Sunday April 8th
TIME:  1 to 3
COST:  $20

I love sparkly things and it’s been ages (years even) since I’ve done a glitter class.  In this class we will visit three different applications of glitter to give your card making projects that pizzazz.

One technique will be using acetate, another direct-to-paper and yet one more using Sookwang tape.  Now it’s very hard to capture the glitter effects on camera but trust me, they are so sparkly in person!

Here’s what I’ll be offering:

This first is using glitter in the traditional way.  Sorry the glitter isn't captured.

The second is using acetate.  This creates a gorgeous effect!

And last is our card using Sookwang tape.

This class is almost full.  I can squeeze a few more in so hurry and reserve your spot!

Let me take a moment here to thank all you lovely ladies for giving me a reason to create and for enjoying these classes.  With all the stamp stores going out of business one by one, there is no place to turn to for hands-on instruction.  I try to keep up with all the new techniques so that my classes are fresh and new.  You have validated my reason for teaching!

NOTE:  You will need your Prismacolor pencils for this class.  You may use markers or Comics as well if you prefer.

Unusual Folds

DATE:  Sunday, March 18th
TIME:  1 to 3pm
COST:  $20

Who  likes a card that opens in a non-traditional manner?  Me! Me!  And so I have brought you some fun cards that you can create for any occasion.

This first card has two flaps that open to expose an area for a gift card (I guess you'll just have to take the class to find out how!):

And keeping with the theme of unusual folds, this next card is shown fully opened:

And lastly, a fun twist on an easel card:

THIS CLASS IS FULL!  If you would really like to take this class, please contact me and I will create another date for you to attend or put you on a wait list.  Feel free to email me at deedee.maligno@gmail.com and we will get you up and running!

See  you soon!
