Christmas Card Extravaganza!

DATE:  Sunday, December 11
TIME:  1PM - 4PM
COST:  $25

Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas to all!  Thanks for stopping by my little blog today to see what fun projects we have to help you jump start your holiday card making.  I've got some treats for you -- some are a repetition of one we did months ago, but everyone loved the idea of the Magic Window Slider card, so I put two of them into this card making extravaganza as well as some other fun cards.

Check  all these fun projects and plan to spend at least three hours with us. Our day will include a small Christmas snack buffet to keep you going - we can even sing Christmas Carols if you like!

Wine bottle sleeve and topper

DAY:  SUNDAY
DATE:  November 27th
TIME:  1pm to 3pm
COST:  $15

It's that time of the year!  Thanksgiving is fast approaching and before we know it, Christmas will be here.  I don't know about you, but I love bringing a nice bottle of wine to my host/hostess no matter what the time of year.  Instead of buying those fancy, shmancy bottle bags ($$ ka-ching!) or that ugly brown bag (been there, done that! - how tacky!), you can create your own special bottle sleeve and what a conversation piece this is!  When people receive their bottle of wine. they don't want to take it out of this pretty packaging.  Psst!  Tell them they are reusable!  It doesn't get any better than that!

So without further rhetoric, here are pics of a bottle sleeve you will be creating in my next class.  We will also be making a bottle topper (see third picture) which is geared for the holidays.  Once you learn how to create these wonderful gift wraps, you'll be making them all the time - they're that simple!

Check out the top of this sleeve!  Is that not the cutest?

And just to shake it up a bit, you'll also be creating a similar looking bottle topper as seen below:

Now before you say anything, YES the bottle is empty!  Something had to sustain me after all this creativity!

So won't you join me on Sunday, November 27th and we will sit and create some fun projects together.  Simply hit the PayPal button below to reserve your seat.  Remember, we have very limited seating!

Using Your Dies More Effectively

DATE:  Friday, November 11
TIME:  7 - 9 PM
COST:  $20

Hi y'all (that's the accent I picked up from Tennessee)!  It's been a wild ride these past weeks and I wanted to put a quick class together for you before the holidays are upon us.  And what better way than with these three fun projects.

Purchasing dies can be an expensive habit and getting the most from them is important.  Come learn how we used some dies in a little unorthodox way.  Here's what's coming up:

Come have fun with us as we create these Fall inspired projects with one actually segueing into Christmas.  Remember, seating is very limited and I will have very few kits available if you are unable to make it to the actual class.  The kit is $20.

So tap on that PayPal button below and reserve your spot on Friday, November 11th from 7 to 9pm!

Learning lattice work

DATE:   PLEASE NOTE TWO DATES THAT THIS CLASS IS BEING OFFERED
                THURSDAY DAY:  1PM TO 3PM
                FRIDAY NITE:  7PM TO 9PM
COST:    $15.00

Happy hot summer to you all! Whew! it certainly has been a doozy these past few weeks. Just wrapping my brain around something creative has been a struggle. BUT~~~I did it! I think I've found a really fun project for you that you will duplicate again and again. I'll be teaching you how to create your own lattice work and translate that to your card making endeavors. With a template and a few snips of your scissors, you'll be creating some very inspiring and easy cards. Let's show you what you'll be doing.

This first card is a side opening lattice (sorry, the ribbon tail is hiding the lattice work).

This next card is a center lattice with a beautiful double color, double loop bow created on your Craft-Dee BowZ tool (you may want to bring it with you!).

So I got to thinking, if I can create a side opening lattice and a center lattice, why not try a top opening lattice?  You will learn how to color your ribbon to match your theme with this card.

You may have notice above that I am offering this class as a day class as well as a night class.  I am trying to create convenience within our busy summer schedules.

So here's the deal -- you MUST, MUST specify which class you are attending - day or evening when you notify me.  I will provide you with two paypal buttons below labeled accordingly.  Or, you can email me at deedee.maligno@gmail.com if that is more convenient.

Come on, lattice have some fun (no groaning, please!).

THIS BUTTON IS FOR THE DAYTIME CLASS ONLY!

What to do with vellum?

DATE:  Friday, July 15th from 7 to 9pm
COST:  $15

A few of my lovely ladies have asked me about incorporating vellum on their greeting cards.  It's the "what?" that people have trouble with -- what do I do with vellum?  We probably all have some vellum in our stash and it languishes there because we just don't know what to do with it.  I think most people purchased it originally to do dry embossing and then wondered "what else?"

This class will show you some clever but simple tricks and help you on the road to using that stash.  We will create three cards incorporating vellum that may surprise you in a good way!

Here's what we'll be doing:

I've included the gentlemen once again with this first card.  Of course, it is so generic that you could still send it to a lovely female acquaintance.  Just change out the card stock color for a brighter look.

This next card is my version of a card that Jennifer McGuire taught.  It's a very clever and useful technique.

This next card happens to be a favorite of mine.  I learned this technique many, many years ago and have kept it on a back burner for just this propitious occasion.  This card can be done two ways and I'll show you the alternative in class.

Remember that seating is limited, so hit that Paypal button below or quickly email me at deedee.maligno@gmail.com to reserve your seat.

Here's what's coming up!

I'm baaaack!!

DATE   Thursday, May 12th from 7pm to 9pm
COST:  $15

Hello friends, I have returned from beautiful Tennessee and have a great class planned for you.  Due to the craziness of my May schedule with seminars and events, I am posting our next class on a Thursday nite.   I apologize for the lateness of this newsletter, but my schedule kept changing.  I think I'm back on track now!

At your request, I will be doing a watercolor class.  You'll learn some easy and fast ways of watercoloring the no-stress way.  We'll be using several different mediums so that you get the feel of how easy it is to create some great watercolor effects.  We will most likely complete one card, but for the most part, this will be a technique class.  I'll show you the different ways to achieve these effects (see samples below) and you will go at it using different papers, inks, paints and Color Burst.  This is such a fun and relaxing class and I look forward to seeing you all.  Just click on the Paypal Button below or email me at deedee.maligno@gmail.com to reserve your spot.

These are just a few of the samples you will be creating using watercoloring the easy way.

I look forward to seeing you on Thursday, May 12th!

3 Different Designs

DATE:  SUNDAY, April 17th from 1pm to 3pm (or thereabouts)
COST:  $15

You really don't want to miss this class!  There are only a few seats left, so send me an email or hit the Paypal button below to reserve your seat!

In this class we'll be doing three very different cards.  I generally try and to theme classes where we'll create variations using the same dies or techniques.  You'll be doing three entirely different cards this time -- lots to spark your imagination!

Here's what we'll be doing...

I call this a Flap Card - you may call it what you wish lol!

This next one is called a Drapery Fold.

And finally, the Shoe Card (original name isn't it?).  Actually, the shape and style of the card is so fun and different, I can see you recreating this a LOT!  It stands like a cube when opened.  I guess you'll just have to come to class to find out!

Grab those last few seats and join us on Sunday, April 17th from 1pm to 3pm.

OH! and psssst!  One of my students is bringing her famous chocolate covered popcorn.  I can't wait! And I'll be serving up a delicious, light as air pie.  Where else can you go to have fun with some wonderful ladies, learn some creative card making and eat decadent desserts!  All this for $15????

One Piece Wonders

DATE:  Sunday, March 20th
TIME:  1pm to 3pm
COST:  $15

Hello fellow paper crafters!  Coming up next week we have a really fun and cool project (2 actually) for you to create from just one sheet of paper/card stock!  This project is a card and envelope all in one and it's created using one sheet of card stock!  We'll also be creating some die cut flowers where I'll show you how to shape them.  (Please see note below.)

Here are the two projects you'll be doing.  The first two pictures are the "cards" closed  and below you will see one of them opened.

Come join the fun, create a few folds and flowers!  I've provided you with an easy Paypal button below, but you can always email me at deedee.maligno@gmail.com.

Note:  Please sign up sooner rather than later as there is a certain amount of prep work involved here and last minute sign-ups can be stressful.  Please notify me no later than Friday, March 4th.  Thanks so much for understanding.  As always I look forward to seeing you all.

NOTE:  PLEASE BRING THE LARGEST BALL STYLUS YOU OWN!  A pair of tweezers will help, but is not crucial (translation:  borrow your neighbor's or mine).

Black & Tan

Date:  Sunday, February 21
Time:  1pm to 3pm
Cost:  $15

What do you think of our crazy NE weather?  From minus 8 to 56 in two days.  What?  Weather like that keeps me indoors and creating and I have put together a really fun set of cards for you.  These are all black and tan and can be used for almost any occasion (except for the Sympathy card) - duh!

This is a technique I fell across very recently and fell in love with it.  Besides being very striking, it's fast and fun and you can throw one of these cards together in a flash.  Or why not make up a batch and have them ready with different sentiments?

Here's what we'll be creating using a little black, a little white and a little tan!

Ok, you caught me -- I used a teeny bit of smoky blue in one of them, but love the effect.

What are you waiting for?  Hit that Paypal button below and join the fun!

NOTE:  All classes are subject to change due to weather conditions.

Playing with Pan Pastels

NEW DATE! NEW DATE!

Date:  Monday, February 15th
Time:  1pm to 3pm
Cost:  $15

Have you wondered what Pan Pastels are?  Those little pots of lusciousness are so fun and easy to work with and I will be happy to show you how.  Let's start with a picture of this medium:

Pan Pastels are a creamy, dense, shimmery chalk that is applied with a variety of different high- density shaped sponges.  They leave a creamy, dreamy finish to your art projects and come in tons of colors from the pastels to the metallics.  We will be using both the pastels and the metallics in this class.

The ladies who were at our last class were in love with the look that this medium supplies, so let me show you what's coming up this Sunday:

Using a combination of stamps and Pan Pastels, our first card is done in a pale green pastel that has a dreamy, shimmery quality to it.

Card number two combines a luscious shimmery lavender (or your choice of color) for this fantastic 3-D die cut birthday card.

And our last card is done using a combination of many metallics together and sneaking in an embossing folder for more impact.  This will make a great masculine card - and we all know what a challenge masculine cards are!

I wish the camera picked up the wonderful shimmer that Pan Pastels offers, but I guess you'll just have to come to class to play with this medium and create 3 stunning cards.  Just click on the Paypal button below to reserve your spot.
