Box Easel Card

DATE:  Sunday, August 4th

TIME:  12:30 - 2:30

COST:  $25

Yikes!  August already?  What happened to June and July?  I've got some fun classes lined up for you and will hopefully be using a few new products -- no promises, but I'll try.

In this next class we'll be making easel cards, but with a twist. They have a box at the bottom to hold the easel part of the card.  Surprisingly, they fold fairly flat for mailing.

So what's it all about?  Photos below are in no particular order, but we will start with the strawberry one since there's some drying time involved.  Just think about the many possibilities for these cards -- any occasion, any holiday, etc.

Here's the strawberry card...

This is a new die I decided to use...

And that familiar (but new) die - the Anemone!

Be sure and check the newsletter for the inks used for these cards.  Note:  I had used neon inks for the Anemone above, but have substituted Oxide colors in the newsletter.  Since this card is predominantly black and white, please feel free to color the anemone in whatever colors you may prefer.

There is one spot left in this class.  Don't delay - contact me via email, text or phone call to reserve this spot.

As always, I look forward to seeing you!

ANEMONE CARDS

 DATE:  Sunday, July 21st

TIME:  12:30 - 2:30

COST:  $25

No surprise here that I LOVE dies.  They are so versatile and can be used in many different ways.  Ergo, our next class.  I'll be using the Memory Box Anemone dies for three cards.  The look is quite different depending on what inks you use.  So let's get into it!  Below are the three cards we will be doing.

Our first card has a funky fold to it plus a pop up surprise when opened.  Take a look...

This next card is totally unusual in that we will be using black and white only.  Never heard of a black and white anemone?  Neither have I!  Who says we can't create in whatever colors we prefer?  You be the judge -- would anyone say to you "a black and white anemone?".  I don't think so, especially after receiving this stunning black and white project.

And as an extra bonus for you, I've created yet a third anemone with a great pop of color!  This is very reminiscent of a poppy flower, but again, who says we can't use out of the box colors?

Be sure and check the newsletter for ink colors and tools to bring to class.

This class is FULL.

As always, I look forward to seeing you all on the 21st!

Using background stamps

 DATE:  Sunday, July 7th

TIME:  12:30 - 2:30

COST:  $25

Yikes!  July already?  Why is it that the summer whips by but winter stays, and stays, and ....  Well, let's make the best of it then, shall we?  I have a fun class planned using background stamps -- you know the ones -- they cover the complete face of a card.  They are so versatile and lend so much to your cards -- but why don't we use them more often?  Maybe they're put in a "safe" place for future use (so safe that you can't find them?)?

We'll start with a very simple embossed background, but will fill parts of it in with some bright markers.  It doesn't get any easier than this.

Our next card features a background stamp with different layers and substrates and using embossing powder again.  A very different look than our first card, but very effective.

And card number three uses a technique that we used back in May.  Do you recognize the technique?

This last card I used yellow and orange, but as suggested in the newsletter, you may wish to bring colors that make you happy -- just two will do!  Be sure and check the newsletter for the list of things to bring to class.

In the meantime, have a happy 4th of July!  Eat, drink and be very merry.

See you on the 7th!

Even more fun with embossing folders

 DATE:  Sunday, June 2nd

TIME:  12:30 - 2:30

COST:  $25

Do you have a plethora of embossing folders just moldering somewhere in a box?  Get them out!!  As with many things in this industry, there is a "trend" and this one focuses on embossing folders.  Who knew that you don't have to stop at just running an embossing folder thru and stick it on a card?  No, no!  By adding inks and a few other oft-forgotten items in your stash, you can create some mind-blowing looks.

In our next class we will cover two different techniques and we'll be dragging out some "inks from the past" to create some stunning effects.  We'll also be dragging out some magic powders to create another card.

Here's what you'll be creating:

Were you able to spot the oft-ignored mediums?  Come to class and see!

THIS CLASS IS FULL.

See you in June!

Faux Iris Folding

DATE:  Sunday, May 19th

TIME:  12:30 TO 2:30

COST:  $25

Iris folding.  What is that?  It's strips of paper glued down in the shape of the Iris of the lens of a camera.  Did you think Iris was the name of some lady who invented it?  Nope.  It mimics the lens on your camera.

This is a very addicting technique and I think you'll enjoy learning the mechanics of putting some cards together with nothing but paper and glue.

I've created two cards for you today.  This first one is more of a ladder effect - very different from the usual "iris" effect.  You will be provided with templates (yours to keep) for this class.  The creation of the templates is another class entirely and if this is something you'd like to pursue, we can set up another class on this technique.

So here's your first card... (excuse the yellowed effect -- the card base is white)

The next card shows the typical "iris" effect.  I may take last-minute creative license with colors and shape on this card -- it all depends on the amount of designer paper I have that coordinates.

As mentioned in the newsletter, you'll need your small scoreboards and bone folders for these cards.  We will be using predominantly glue, but dimensional tape and regular tape will follow.  No inks are needed so you can travel light for this class.

I have one opening left, so call, text, email me for that last slot.

I look forward to seeing you all!

EASY CAS CARDS

 DATE:  Sunday, May 5th

TIME:  12:30 - 2:30

COST:  $25

There is something so refreshing about clean and simple (CAS) cards.  The biggest challenge is knowing when to STOP!  We are so used to adding "stuff" to our cards to complete them.  Sometimes the simplest, cleanest look does the trick.

In this next class we'll complete three cards using a really fun and extremely simple technique.  Listed below are the three cards we'll be doing, but you are more than welcome to bring whatever colors of ink that make you happy.  The newsletter shows the colors I used for these projects.

I stayed with soft colors but you are more than welcome (and encouraged) to use brighter or darker inks.  Let yourself go!  Choose some colors you ordinarily don't gravitate toward.  You may be surprised!

There is one opening left in this class.  You know the drill -- call, text or email to hold your spot.

I look forward to seeing you all on the 5th!

More Embossing Fun

DATE:  Sunday, April 21st

TIME:  12:30 TO 2:30

COST:  $25

Oh how we love embossing folders!  Well, at least I do and I love them so much that I love to pass on some of the ways I've learned to use them.  Let's face it, we really need to utilize our "toys" more.  So let's go!

In this class we'll employ simple embossing with some coloring involved.  I'll also have one card that's a bit more involved than the first three.  The first two we will create are basically the same, just using light and dark card.   A little ink, a little tearing... and voila!  Pretty much a 5 minute card!

Our next card will involve just a tiny bit of coloring...

And our last card involves, coloring and cutting...

You'll get to make some use from your bow maker -- I know!  It's been a long time!  Bring it with you!

There's only one spot open in this class.  You know how to get in touch with me to reserve your spot!
