Wiper Cards

DATE:  Sunday, October 5th

TIME:  12:30 - 2:30

COST:  $25

Would someone please tell me where September went?  I blinked and it was gone!  Here we are into one of the most gorgeous season in New England.  I was in Maine this past week and the trees are starting to turn.  Can't wait!

So let's think back quite a few years - remember wiper cards?  They have a fun mechanism when opened an element pops up.  Not terribly difficult, but you need to concentrate.  I'll help you thru it all!

Here's what I've got for you. I've only made two cards (don't want to overwhelm you), but I will try and create others with different themes (no promises).  This card lends itself to any occasion believe it or not.

Our first card has a single pop up feature:

Surprise!!

And our second card features TWO pop ups!

Guaranteed fun for the recipients.  Check out the newsletter for what to bring to class.

See you soon!

Vases, vases, vases

 DATE:  Sunday, September 21

TIME:  12:30 - 2:30

COST:  $25

Happy ALMOST Fall Y'all!  Yup, we are on the cusp, but I'm not quite ready to march out the fall cards yet.  That will happen in October.  So stay tuned!

In the meantime, I wanted to share my love of vases (no idea where this comes from!) by showcasing three pretty, simple cards.  We will progress from one vase, to two and to three showing you how versatile you can be.

First up is the single vase in CAS format.  I used paper flowers, not die cuts, for this particular card.

And next are the two vases.  I've used a torn piece of "corrugated" card stock and a sprinkling of gold splatter:

And lastly, three grouped vases.  We'll be using a simple but old technique for this card for the accents on the vases.

So there you have it!  Be sure to check the newsletter for what products to bring to class.

As always, I look forward to seeing you all.

Half Gate Fold Card

DATE:  Sunday, September 7th

TIME:  12:30 - 2:30

COST:  $25

Well I'm back from my travels and what a time we had!  I insist that you put Alaska on your bucket list.  The views are stunning and indescribable - just something you have to witness in person.

So, I've put my Teaching hat back on and am ready for you with three lovely half gate fold cards as follows:  the first two are showing flowers but with a very different look.

And we have a happy, bright card using neon inks.

Please check the newsletter for supplies to bring to class.  Guess I'd better get cracking and put your kits together.  I'm still on vacation time!

See you soon!

Fold Out Card

DATE:  Sunday, August 17th

TIME:  12:30 - 2:30

COST:  $25

I can't believe we are ending summer already.  One minute I was planning a trip to Alaska way down the road and the next minute - here it is!  What this means is you will have a three week gap between classes.  Classes will resume on 9/7 upon my return.

In the meantime, let's get going with this fun style card.  There will be some Copic coloring and some inking involved.  If any of you have a sticky mat, bring it with you - it makes life easier.

Here are the cards you will be making - showing closed and opened views:

Be sure and check the newsletter for supplies needed.  In the meantime, it's happy bon voyage for me -- see you in September!

Corner Fold Pop Up card

DATE:  Sunday, August 3rd

TIME:  12:30 - 2:30

COST:  $25

Back on track with the proper classes.  Last week I erroneously posted the wrong class material, but it was fixed with no problem.  The ladies  quite enjoyed blowing bubbles and creating some lovely backgrounds.  Here are a few pics of that day:

  •
We had a few laughs and ended with some super looking cards!

Our next class will feature another fun fold - a corner pop up.  This style is great for any occasion as you will see.  Here are the cards we will be doing in no special order:

(This last one would make a nice wedding card.)

There are no special instructions for additional supplies needed for this class - just your regular kit.

I look forward to showing you this fun fold.

LACY DAYS OF SUMMER

 DATE:  Sunday, July 6th

 TIME:  12:30 - 2:30

COST:  $25

Summer has arrived!  Maybe it can tone it down a bit from 100 degrees tho?  Well, while the heat melts the outside, we will be in air-conditioned comfort creating some fun cards.  A medium that is often overlooked in card making is lace.  I was rummaging around the other day and came across some scraps of lace and thought "what a nice thing to introduce the ladies to" in a class.

I came across quite a few different types of lace in my stash and pulled out three different sizes for you to play with.  I started of with this simple 2" lace using butterflies and pearls for accents:

The next piece of lace is 1" wide so I used it to accent a strip down the side of this card:

And the last card features a wide 3" piece of lace.  The width of this lace inspired a slimline card which I think worked out very well:

You can use ruffled lace as well for your cards - these are just what I came across in my stash.  I hope these cards will inspire you to use something a bit unusual to enhance your card making.

There are still openings in this class, so let me know thru the usual channels (email, text, phone call, carrier pigeon, etc.) if you'd like to be included.

In the meantime, stay cool and we'll see you on the 6th of July.  In the meantime, HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!!

Collapsing Pillar cards

DATE:  Sunday, June 22nd

TIME:  12:30 - 2:30

COST:  $25

Boy, Father's Day threw a bunch of you a loop as far as classes go!  We will be back on schedule of every other week once Father's Day is done.

Having said that, I have another fun class prepared for you.  The pillars in these cards collapse so that they fit in a regular A2 size envelope.  One difference is that one card (the black and white "Hello" card) has two pillars (you can't see the one in the back in this photo, but it's there).  I like to push the envelope when it comes to a different folded card.  These are all A2 cards and it's a very simple adjustment if you wanted to create an A7 card.

Here's what we'll be doing in no special order:

Also in this class you will get to use some of the Lisa Horton Interference inks and some of the Altenew die inks.  You'll only need two ink colors for this class:  chipped sapphire and a yellow ink.

There are a few openings in this class - you know the drill!  Reserve early so that I have ample time to prep a kit.  There's a lot of die cutting involved, so lead time for me is important.  See you soon!
